The acoustics projects arise due to the increasing concerns over urban noise levels, especially in big urban centers, and are intended to improve the quality of life by controlling excessive and undesirable noises.
The “General Noise Regulation” (RGR – Regulamento Geral do Ruído, in portuguese), approved by the Decree-Law 09/2007 of January 17th and backed by the Decree-Law 96/2008 of June 9th – “Regulation of Acoustic Requirements” of Buildings (RRAE – Regulamento dos Requisitos Acústicos dos Edifícios, in portuguese) , has as main goals the endowment of buildings with acoustic comfort, so that it suits the use and activity of its occupants, but also to ensure the construction quality requirements.
